A re-experience of the İzmir City, through re-photography - a real near time travel!
While analyzing these very eery captures, I noticed a general increase in the crowd in all of my photos as a difference to begin with. I believe the appearances and disappearings are the aspects which made my work alive. People who have their own personal experiences existing and sharing in a particular moment, creates the value of the compositions. You can really feel the existance when you look at them and personally they made me think like “I wonder how many people passed by here since then?” This is why I preferred to express my compositions of old and new in a merged way so that we could feel the present and the past at the same time at least for a moment. Walking around to find the perfect spot was a different experience itself. This was in fact an opportunity to walk around in Izmir, the town I grew up and live in, and have a look at from a different point of view. Great to be a part of the “presents” in my compositions!
